This course attempts to fill the knowledge gaps that modern people have in classical art, as these are the very foundations of any modern artistic creation.
Throughout this course you will discover how classical artists:

  • Make use of space
  • Take inspiration from their environment and their cultural context
  • Create art to express, explore, and question the world around them
  • Respond to the social, cultural, and political issues of their time through works of art
  • Use materials

Pamela Lloyd-Ogoke

Painter, instructor, writer
Pamela Lloyd-Ogoke was born and raised in New York City and became Deaf at the age of 17. She obtained her B.A. degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Social Work and her M.A. degree in Deafness Rehabilitation from New York University. She also completed the Deafness Rehabilitation Administrative post M.A. program from San Diego State University.

Pam’s career in human service has been extensive. She has held a variety of highly visible leadership positions such as Executive Director of a Disability Rights Center, University ADA Compliance Officer, and Program Administrator of Relay North Carolina. She currently works as the Chief of Community Integration Services and Supports for the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. In this role she provides oversight of five key statewide programs – The NC Assistive Technology Program, the Independent Living Rehabilitation Program, Latino Outreach, Access North Carolina, and Service Animal Educational Program.

Pam has been a leader within the Deaf community for over thirty years. She served and is still serving on multiple Boards including: 

--Gallaudet University Board of Trustees for nine years and served as the Chair of the Committee on Student Affairs
--Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Board of Trustees (DATES?)
--National Technical Institute of the Deaf (NTID) National Advisory Group Chair (DATES)
--President Emeritus of National Black Deaf Advocates (NBDA) (DATES???)
--National Association of the Deaf Board and its Fulton III steering committee to develop long term strategic goals, and co-chair of the NAD-RID Task Force on Interpreter Issues.
--National Center for Deaf Health Research Board member (DATES??)
